week 4 post 3

This week was particularly engaging for me because it touched on to be the science of harmful physical effects that are correlated with poverty, which is really in my realm of interest. Still, I also enjoyed how they tied in writing and newsworthiness to it, and I liked how the other class about storytelling used similar stories and articles to talk about issues that matter to the professors. I've found it super exciting to see what the particular professors focus on. For example, the storytelling professor focuses more on artistic expressions and history, whereas journalism focuses more on child maltreatment and the present, which I find interesting.
My questions are somewhat related to what I'm learning but also just questions that were sparked from reading the articles this week. How do people find their niche? Why are people such as myself who have not experienced very many typical adverse situations so interested in adverse circumstances and how that impacts people? My last question is, would the children and piers in my community benefit from Reading articles like what I'm reading and these classes, and would that Engage Them More in school, and could that help their success rates and personal lives?

  1. I think the poverty cycle would be a great focus for the final presentation.
